Digital Radiography is an advanced method of obtaining dental images in a safe and effective way. At Dentistry for Midtown, Dr. Bordeaux has added digital radiography to his already impressive list of state-of-the-art dental services...
Atlanta, GA Sept 17, 2012: For years, dental technicians have relied on X-ray imaging to create films that map the interior of their patients’ teeth. This method was useful in finding issues that may not be readily identifiable with visual inspection. X-rays could also help validate a dentist’s suspicions about the extent of periodontal problems. The drawback, of course, has been the serious side effects associated with the misuse or cumulative use of X-rays. Although precautions are always taken to safeguard the health of patients and reduce radiation exposure, many people are still skittish about getting dental work done due to this risk.
This is one of the many reasons why Dr. David H. D. Bordeaux of Dentistry for Midtown decided to add digital radiography to the services he offers. “Digital radiography reduces the risks associated with traditional X-rays and delivers a fast, effective method for obtaining invaluable data,” Dr. Bordeaux explains. “With this information my patients can and will receive the high-quality oral health care they deserve.”
The process feels similar to traditional X-rays but employs electronics to capture dental images. The patient uses an electronic sensor shaped like an X-ray film, but it will be connected to a computer for chemical-free processing and image enhancement. Once the sensor is firmly in place, the dentist can promptly view the image, make a diagnosis, or examine the teeth for any hidden damage.
Digital radiography is much faster and more environmentally friendly than film.
The images are higher in quality and the records are easily transferable by email to other offices. When one considers the many advantages of this new technology, one can only imagine that digital radiography will become the gold standard for obtaining needed dental images.
Digital radiography joins the other state-of-the-art services that Dentistry for Midtown offers which include ZOOM whitening, dental implants, Invisalign (invisible braces) and much, much more.
